Maybole Castle

The Cassillis Estate Trustees are currently in discussions to Lease Maybole Castle and grounds to May-Tag Ltd for 175 years.

May-tag will run the castle as a community Social Enterprise project and develop the Castle into a Heritage Centre, Family History Research, Arts & Crafts, Offices, Community Facilities, Café & Tourist Information, which will bring new employment & training opportunities, increase visitors and tourists and bring a major tourist attraction to the centre of Maybole.

Our architects, ARP Lorimer, are in discussion with Historic Scotland for £480,000 to refurbish the Castle roof, a grant offer of £65,000 has been made from the Energy Saving Trust, and £20,000 from South Ayrshire Environmental Trust towards a new Bio-Mass boiler system. Discussions are also on going with Heritage Lottery Fund for £500,000 funding towards the refurbishment with the castle.
